I completely agree with R. Chartier and you, as well, Leon. The job market will increase exponentially if American Based companies bring their branches back to American soil and union members need to keep their mouths shut and work for the more than decent wage that they have been blessed with.
We need to abolish NAFTA and impose steep taxes for imported goods upon every company that imports, regardless of where the corporate headquarters is located. I bet many a company would see a steep penalty for their decision to build plants overseas if that were ever to happen...and oh, how I hope that it does! It would make me very happy to see giants like that getting the wind taken out of their sails. Further, I believe that we should be aware of companies that state that their products are made in America when the parts used to make those products were manufactured overseas.
Suspension of the H1B visa program would be a good start. 200,00 foreign workers are entering the USA per year (with 3 year visas that are easily extended to 6 years) to compete with American job-seekers. American companies are abusing this Department of Labor program due to restrictions relaxed during the Bush administration. Taxation on those companies off-shoring US jobs would also be a big incentive for them to keep these jobs here. It is like the American companies have abandoned the US workers that built these companies in the first place.
To do this the Unions have to take a deep breath and realize that it was their actions which made those jobs dissapear!!!
